Wyoming

When I saw this, I knew I had to put it on my blog. LMAO. I think I've experienced and/or witnessed all of the following. The only thing I think he missed was the wind. (Thanks Jamie:)

If 'vacation' to you means going shopping for the weekend in Casper or Cheyenne (while the kids swim at the Comfort Inn)
You might live in Wyoming

If parking your car for the night involves an extension cord,
You might live in Wyoming

You might live in Wyoming.

If you have ever refused to buy something because it's 'too spendy',
You might live in Wyoming

If your local Dairy Queen is closed from November through March,
You might live in Wyoming.

If someone in a store offers you assistance, and they don't work there,
You might live in Wyoming .

If your dad's suntan stops at a line curving around the middle of his forehead,
You might live in Wyoming.

If you have worn shorts and a parka at the same time,
You might live in Wyoming.

If your town has an equal number of bars and churches,
You might live in Wyoming.

If you know how to correctly pronounce Dubois, Kemmerer, and Fontenelle.
You might live in Wyoming.

You might live in Wyoming.

If there are more people at work on Christmas Eve Day than on Opening of Deer Season,
You might live in Wyoming.

If you design your kid's Halloween costume to fit over a snowsuit,
You might live in Wyoming.

If driving is better in the winter because the potholes are filled with snow,
You might live in Wyoming.

If you know all 4 seasons: almost winter, winter, still winter and road construction,
You might live in Wyoming.

If you can identify a southern or eastern accent,
You might live in Wyoming .

If your idea of creative landscaping is a statue of a deer next to your cottonwood,
You might be from Wyoming.

If a brat is something you eat,
You might live in Wyoming.

If finding your misplaced car keys involves looking in the ignition,
You might live in Wyoming.

If you find 0 degrees 'a little warm,'
You might live in Wyoming.

If you actually understand these observations, and you
forward them to all your Wyoming friends,
You must be from Wyoming.

It's pretty sad how true these are!!

Sarah Palin & SNL Totally Rocks Take 2

A Heartbeat Away Guys, A Heartbeat Away!
As I watched the Sarah Palin's interview with Katie Couric last week, I honestly thought she was a total joke. I was surprised she didn't know some of the things Katie was asking her. I thought man, this person could be a heartbeat away from the President of the United States if John McCain is elected. AAAHHHH!!!! But she did prove herself tonight, during the debate, not to be a total idiot. Shock and surprise. I still think it's so funny to hear her say she and her running mate are Mavericks and part of the reform party. Does she know who has been running the country? Our fabulous President is republican. And as far as I can tell, John McCain seems to vote along side party lines A LOT! He is definitely not the Maverick reformer that Ms. Palin would have us believe. But still I was hoping for a train wreck and she didn't totally suck. Although her views are a little misconstrued in my humble opinion.

Tina Fey still nails her. Too funny.

NKOTB take 2

So, when I was in middle school my all time favorite music was New Kids on the Block. I loved them. I really loved Donny and Jon. When they released their new album I have to admit I still love them. I know, I'm a dork. O'Yeah, Donny is still freakin' yummy! I need to attend NKOTB Anonymous meeting. Here is the confession - "Hi, my name is Melea and I still love NKOTB."

Rendezvoux

We headed down to the annual Ft. Bridger Rendezvous today. The kids were great, the weather was good and the crazies we out and about. The rendezvous is usually filled with a crap load of people some in traditional Indian or Pioneer dress and some in regular street clothes. There are several booths that fill up the whole Fort. Most booths sell items dealing with that time frame, others have music or food. It was fun to go down and see everything. Adam got a bow and arrow set. The gentleman that sold the bow and arrow showed Adam how to properly use it and spoke Indian to him as well. Adam just kind of looked at him and smiled. It was so cute. Lily got a beautiful purple parasol and Spencer got a huge wooden rifle. It was so fun to hang out with the kids and enjoy the day together.

The Bates Motel

This is my idea of roughing it for sure. A camper. AKA, the Bates Motel. It's fabulous, warm and has a potty.
We've had two camp outs so far. One was the family reunion in Alpine (seriously like 4 hrs. away) and last night we went to Bridger Lake, which is up the the mountains right near us. We have been having so much fun. I don't like to be cold when camping. Last summer (June) I was a hundred months pregnant and our little family decided to go camping. I was so freakin' cold. Lily and I came home at 12:00am because I was freezing and I wasn't going to leave Lily. She rarely stays under her covers and I was scared to death she was going to freeze to death. Call it the pregnancy drama's, but I was adamant that I wouldn't go camping again without a warm camper and a potty. So after MUCH searching we found the 'one' on July 3.
We were able to bring it home on July 8th. It's about all our Burb will pull. I like to call it 'The little burb that could', cuz I'm a dork. But that's ok. We usually don't go very far. To the mountains or the Gorge.
Anyway, I'm a happy camper and my family is so excited. We are looking forward to many years of family time with plenty of room for all the babies. Thankfully, I will do it warm and with a potty.

Why did the Chicken Cross the Road?

BARACK OBAMA:
The chicken crossed the road because it was time for a CHANGE! The chicken wanted CHANGE!

JOHN MC CAIN:
My friends, that chicken crossed the road because he recognized the need to engage in cooperation and dialogue with all the chickens on the other side of the road.

HILLARY CLINTON:
When I was First Lady, I personally helped that little chicken to cross the road. This experience makes me uniquely qualified to ensure -- right from Day One! -- that every chicken in this country gets the chance it deserves to cross the road. But then, this really isn't about me.......

DR. PHIL:
The problem we have here is that this chicken doesn't realize that he must first deal with the problem on 'THIS' side of the road before it goes after the problem on the 'OTHER SIDE' of the road. What we need to do is help him realize how stupid he's acting by not taking on his 'CURRENT' problems before adding 'NEW' problems.

OPRAH:
Well, I understand that the chicken is having problems, which is why he wants to cross this road so bad. So instead of having the chicken learn from his mistakes and take falls, which is a part of life, I'm going to give this chicken a car so that he can just drive across the road and not live his life like the rest of the chickens.

GEORGE W. BUSH:
We don't really care why the chicken crossed the road. We just want to know if the chicken is on our side of the road, or not. The chicken is either against us, or for us. There is no middle ground here.

ANDERSON COOPER - CNN:
We have reason to believe there is a chicken, but we have not yet been allowed to have access to the other side of the road.

NANCY GRACE:
That chicken crossed the road because he's GUILTY! You can see it in his eyes and the way he walks.

PAT BUCHANAN:
To steal the job of a decent, hardworking American.

DR SEUSS:
Did the chicken cross the road? Did he cross it with a toad?
Yes, the chicken crossed the road, but why it crossed I've not been told.

ERNEST HEMINGWAY:
To die in the rain. Alone.

GRANDPA:
In my day we didn't ask why the chicken crossed the road. Somebody told us the chicken crossed the road, and that was good enough.

BARBARA WALTERS:
Isn't that interesting? In a few moments, we will be listening to the chicken tell, for the first time, the heart warming story of how it experienced a serious case of molting, and went on to accomplish its life long dream of crossing the road.

ARISTOTLE:
It is the nature of chickens to cross the road.

JOHN LENNON:
Imagine all the chickens in the world crossing roads together... in peace!

ALBERT EINSTEIN:
Did the chicken really cross the road, or did the road move beneath the chicken?

BILL GATES:
I have just released eChicken2008, which will not only cross roads, but will lay eggs, file your important documents, and balance your check book. Internet Explorer is an integral part of the Chicken. This new Platform is much more stable and will never cra...#@&&^(C% ........ Oops! What happened?

COLONEL SANDERS:
Did you say 'chicken'? Did I miss one?

DICK CHENEY:
Where's my gun?

Thanks Mani, I Love it!!!!

Flaming Gorge Days

So Friday night's activities started with a phone call from my sweet sister-in-law Barb, earlier in the week. She called to tell me that Jim (Gene & Barb's son) his wife Jennifer and daughter Kaitlyn were going to be coming in from Ohio for the weekend. There were big to-do's going on in Green River. Anyone who is from Wyoming knows that when there is something going on in a town near by, you probably should go because you never know how much longer it's going to be before there is another fun, exciting thing that will come along. So it was off to the fabulous town of Green River.
With that being said, we were treated to some really good (country) music. First Chris Young was up. I was really impressed with his voice. He was really talented. A little reminiscent of early Randy Travis. I had only heard one or two of his songs before, but he also belted out some ZZ top and vintage Keith Whitley. Wow, that man could sing.

We were also able to see Rodney Atkins. Chris Young was a far better singer, but Rodney Atkins was a really great performer. He involved the crowd and had us sing a little of his most popular song.

The kids were really good. It was every one's first concert other than seeing Todd and his band. Sara was happy and clapping through Chris Young but totally crashed out during Rodney Atkins. In this picture, Todd's brother Gene is holding her and as usual, she was totally content and happy to be held and snuggled.

Lily and Kaitlyn were quick friends when the first met back in November and this weekend was no exception. They were having fun chasing each other and dancing.

Valerie came with us. She was kind of in and out of sight most of the night. She knew a whole bunch of people that were at the concert, so she was visiting and hanging out with a little bit of everyone. It was fun to have her with us. We are going to miss her terribly when she heads off for school in Idaho. My kids are going to miss her terribly, she's been an almost daily fixture in their lives since they were born. Our family is going to enjoy her every minute we can until she moves on.
So, Friday and Saturday were great, the food was yummo, the company was great, and the festivities were great. I love summers in Wyoming. We only get about 3 months of it, and by dang we are going to enjoy it. I also love being with my friends and family. I love watching my kids have new experiences. As they get older they get easier to take places, I don't feel like I'm going to be screaming my face off quite as frequently as I used to. Todd and I have great kids, I love having this big honkin' family to share my life with. Immediate and extended, they're all fabulous.

Adam's 'Friends' Birthday

We had Adam's 'friends' birthday party. As always, Adam was a character. There is a waterfall in the 'Aquatic Center' and Adam always finds the best ways to utilize it. Todd, Spencer, Lily and Sara all climbed in the pool to help Adam celebrate with his friends. He [Adam] had quite a few friends show up. There were even kids that I used to have in daycare that he has known since he was a baby.
Todd was a hit with the kids. Not only was he playing in the pool with them, but he also played 'tag' outside while we were waiting for the kids' parents to show up. I saw him bent over and gasping for air a few times, but he had a great time being the biggest kid there. I think I'll keep him.
Sara was loving the pool. Valerie held her the entire time and let her splish and splash. She had a great time. Even when kids were splashing and getting her wet. Sweet Baby!
There were 2 fun filled days of birthday parties. Lots of friends, fun, and family. What a great day to be 7.

AAADD-KNOW THE SYMPTOMS.......

Thank goodness there's a name for this disorder. I constantly feel this way. My best friend read this and thought "OMG, they followed Melea around for the day."

Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder.
This is how it manifests:

I decide to water my garden.
As I turn on the hose in the driveway,
I look over at my car and decide it needs washing.
As I start toward the garage,
I notice mail on the porch table that
I brought up from the mail box earlier.
I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car.
I lay my car keys on the table,
put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table,
and notice that the can is full.
So, I decide to put the bills back
on the table and take out the garbage first.
But then I think,
since I'm going to be near the mailbox
when I take out the garbage anyway,
I may as well pay the bills first.
I take my check book off the table,
and see that there is only one check left.
My extra checks are in my desk in the study,
so I go inside the house to my desk where
I find the can of Coke I'd been drinking.
I'm going to look for my checks,
but first I need to push the Coke aside
so that I don't accidentally knock it over.
The Coke is getting warm,
and I decide to put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.
As I head toward the kitchen with the Coke,
a vase of flowers on the counter
catches my eye--they need water.
I put the Coke on the counter and
discover my reading glasses that
I've been searching for all morning.
I decide I better put them back on my desk,
but first I'm going to water the flowers.
I set the glasses back down on the counter,
fill a container with water and suddenly spot the TV remote.
Someone left it on the kitchen table.
I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV,
I'll be looking for the remote,
but I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table,
so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs,
but first I'll water the flowers.
I pour some water in the flowers,
but quite a bit of it spills on the floor.
So, I set the remote back on the table,
get some towels and wipe up the spill.
Then, I head down the hall trying to
remember what I was planning to do.

At the end of the day:
the car isn't washed
the bills aren't paid
there is a warm can of Coke sitting on the counter
the flowers don't have enough water,
there is still only 1 check in my check book,
I can't find the remote,
I can't find my glasses,
and I don't remember what I did with the car keys.
Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today,
I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all damn day,
and I'm really tired.

I realize this is a serious problem,
and I'll try to get some help for it,
but first I'll check my e-mail....

Many Birthday Parties

We had a busy weekend, filled with birthday parties. Friday, Adam had a classmate's birthday party to go to. This birthday party had real instruments the kids were able to play, this was music to Adam's ears, in every way imaginable. He loves the drums, guitar and of course the microphone. When you're in kindergarten, there are some interesting songs you learn to sing. And Adam had mastered most of them. Sometimes with some help from Spencer. He had a great time. He came home with some interesting stories.
It was also Birthday weekend for 2 of Arlene's Kids. Kamryn turned 3 and Konnor turned 10. We got Kamryn a playdoh set and Konnor a basketball. Kamryn's party started at 3:00. It included a BBQ, presents, and cake. Then, Konnor had his birthday party at 5:00 at the pool. Followed by cake. We were all tired by the end of the day and high on sugar. (That is my favorite emotion.)It was so much fun.
Lily was being a rock star and insisted on a picture. She is so cute.
She wants to be just like Daddy and Spencer. Sheryl Crow watch out.
I have to tell you, the weather here has been crazy. It was a nasty Winter and we were hoping for a nice Spring, but one day it's 65 degrees and the next it's 29 degrees. WTF. Seriously. I refuse to put my flip-flops back in the closet, so those 29 degree days better start getting fewer and farther between or my pretty painted toenails are going to freeze.

Lots of Little Things

First and foremost I need to tell you that Norm came through surgery and is doing well. There's not a lot to tell you other than he is stable and still very disoriented. Hopefully after a few more rounds of dialysis, he will be back to his sweet, way to charming self. He has a long road a head of him regarding recovery, but hopefully he will handle everything OK.

Michelle Obama was on The Colbert Report Tuesday and handled herself really well. Stephen can be sooo silly and ask inappropriate questions. Michelle is a beautiful, smart, insightful person. She seemed to see right through him and was still able to laugh at his silliness. It was a fun show. Hillary Clinton is going to be on his show tonight. I can't wait. Hillary can laugh at herself, it'll be interesting to see how she does tonight. And what comes out of Stephen's mouth.

American Idol was exciting. Krisy Lee Cook FINALLY went home. I can't stand her. His Royal Yumminess, David Cook was awesome Tuesday. I absolutely love him. (I think I might have mentioned that.) Enjoy.
